Borrowing Capacity Calculator
Put in your income, your existing debts and your living expenses, and this returns an indicative borrowing range. It is a starting point rather than a pre approval, but it will tell you quickly whether you are looking in roughly the right bracket.
No credit check, and nothing here touches your credit file.
Estimate only. This calculator is a guide. It is not a quote, a pre approval or a credit offer, and it does not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account. Real figures depend on the lender, the product, the fees, the loan to value ratio and a full assessment of your circumstances.
Lenders do not assess you at the rate you are offered. They test your capacity against a buffer above it, which is why a genuine borrowing figure is usually lower than a simple repayment sum would suggest. Credit cards are assessed on the limit rather than the balance, so an unused card still reduces what you can borrow.
Worth knowing
Your income and how it is earned, any existing loans, credit cards and buy now pay later limits, how many people you support, and your regular living expenses.
How a particular lender treats your income. Self employed, contract, bonus and overtime income get assessed very differently from lender to lender, and two of them looking at the same person can land tens of thousands apart.
Treat it as a range to test rather than a budget to spend. If the number is close to what you need, that is exactly the point at which choosing the right lender starts to matter.
